Frequently asked questions

──Feb 04 , 2023Understand how brake motors work

When the brake motor is energized, the electromagnetic brake mounted on the rear of the motor is powered on and produces suction. The direct current passing through the brake coil generates suction force to separate the two friction surfaces at the motor tail, enabling the motor to rotate freely.

When power is input, the motor and the brake are energized simultaneously. Under this condition, the brake disc overcomes spring pressure and is attracted toward the magnetic pole assembly, separating the friction disc from the brake disc to realize motor startup.

When the brake motor stops running or is driven to rotate by the load, it enters a power generation state. Specifically, the motor operates in a generatingstate when its rotating speed direction is opposite to the torque direction, which converts mechanical energy into electrical energy.

Power-on OperationWhen energized, the motor’s built-in tail electromagnetic brake generates magnetic force. The coil DC suction separates the friction surfaces, allowing free and normal shaft rotation.

Power-off BrakingWhen power is cut off, the magnetic field vanishes. The spring pushes the brake disc outward. Friction between the friction plate and brake pad quickly locks the motor for reliable braking.
Power Generation FunctionWhen the motor is reversely driven by load or coasts with speed opposite to torque direction, it works as a generator, converting mechanical energy into electrical energy.
